If your the cutup at most parties and people love hearing your jokes then this is for you.

If so, now's your chance to find out, courtesy of The Improv at Harrah's. On Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, in conjunction with the Blu-ray Hi-Def and DVD release of Universal Studios' Funny People, Budd Friedman and Mark Lonow's Improv at Harrah's will begin a hunt to find the next funniest person in the country. The winner will be rewarded with a six-night run at the Improv sometime in 2010.
To enter, you need to record at least one minute of your funniest original material and upload the video to the dedicated area at ijoke.com (to ensure the video gets placed into the right location, be certain to select "Funny People" in the drop-down category selector).

All video entries need to be uploaded by midnight PST on Tuesday, Dec. 8. A panel of professionals will select the top five videos which will then be posted to ijoke.com no later than December 14, where the public will determine the winner.

Designated Drivers Program in Trouble

For several years, the Designated Drivers program in Las Vegas has waived its $55 fee through the holidays and offered free rides to revelers, thanks to sponsorship from local businesses.

They receive some state funding, but this year they remain $40,000 short of being able to provide this valuable service, which they were hoping to offer from Dec. 19 through Jan. 3. 2,000 letters were mailed to local bars and clubs, asking for donations, but to date not a single response has been received, so the free-ride program currently remaines in jeopardy.

Anyone who wishes to donate to the non-profit company should visit designateddriversfoundation.org.

Smell of Vegas revealed tonight

The "official scent of Las Vegas" is scheduled to be revealed tonight at the SCENTWorld 2009 expo Gala Dinner.

Top executives from the Las Vegas business community, the City of Las Vegas, and the Vegas Airport Authority were asked to assist in "capturing everything the city stands for," while the actual creative task was performed by Christophe Laudamiel, the "enfant terrible of contemporary perfumery" whose produced fragrances for Este Lauder, Ralph Lauren, and Abercrombie & Fitch.

Fontainebleau to be Auctioned

Yesterday Penn National Gaming Inc. Made a $50 million "stalking horse" bid to buy the stalled Strip casino-resort.

Their plans include spending an additional $1.46 billion to complete the project.

This move triggered an auction process in which other investors will have a chance to bid for the property.

Fontainebleau is proposing a Jan. 15 deadline for competing offers to be submitted.

Honoring the famed Parisian tradition, Paris Las Vegas once again welcomes the arrival of Beaujolais Nouveau for the properties 3rd annual wine celebration. This year the resort welcomes Holly Madison--blonde bombshell, reality television sensation and star of Peepshow in Las Vegas--and a Lucille Ball impersonator for a traditional grape stomping that is reminiscent of the iconic "Lucy" scene on the property's Strip-side harvest-themed patio. The 3:00 p.m. Daytime event coincides with the start of festivities at midnight in Paris, France.

The five days heralding this year's harvest feature special events, tastings, and unique Beaujolais Nouveau pairings at eateries such as Mon Ami Gabi, Les Artistes Steakhouse and the Sterling Brunch at Bally's Steakhouse.

As regulated by French law, Beaujolais Nouveau is released no sooner than the third Thursday in Nov. - six weeks after the grapes are harvested. Huge celebrations take place worldwide at one minute after midnight to taste the latest wine of the harvest, with 65 million bottles to be consumed in the following months.

Fighter in Critical Condition

Filipino boxer ZC Oliveros "The Dream" Gorres remains in critical condition after undergoing an emergency surgery at University Medical Center in Las Vegas, where he was rushed after winning his fight against Colombian Luis Melendez at Mandalay Bay today.

The boxer collapsed after the fight and had to undergo surgery due to a blood clot on the left side of his brain. He's currently in a medically induced coma in the intensive care unit at UMC, where he remains under close observation.

Las Vegas New Year's Eve Fireworks Display to Return to the Rooftops

Las Vegas Events (LVE) and the Las
Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) announced today that the
New Year's Eve celebration known as America's Party: Las Vegas New Year
2010 will include a spectacular fireworks show fired from seven rooftop
Locations along the Las Vegas Strip.

    The firing locations (from the south, heading north) include the
Following resort properties: MGM Grand, Planet Hollywood, Aria, Caesars
Palace, Treasure Island (TI), Venetian and the Stratosphere.

    Fireworks by Grucci of New York will again coordinate the pyrotechnic
Display. The group recently created the spectacular Grand Opening of the
Atlantis Hotel and The Palm Jumeirah in Dubai and has executed numerous
Presidential inaugurations and citywide celebrations. Locally, Fireworks by
Grucci has produced many of Las Vegas' largest special events and grand
Openings, including the official Las Vegas Centennial celebration.

    In addition to designing the pyrotechnic display, Fireworks by Grucci
Will work directly with the Clark County Fire Department and Building
Services to ensure both fire and structural safety guidelines.

    "We are moving the fireworks show back to where it should be," said LVE
President Pat Christenson. "Fireworks by Grucci, the Clark County Fire
Department and Building Services and the individual resort properties have

'America's Air Show' returns Nov. 14-15

The largest free public event in Nevada returns to Nellis Air Force Base Nov. 14-15 when the U.S. Air Force hosts Aviation Nation 2009-- the Nellis Air Force Base Open House and annual Las Vegas air show.

This year, Aviation Nation celebrates the work of America's 21st century Air Force and its acheivements in air, space and cyberspace. The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will headline the two-day event and be joined by several military air demonstration teams and some of the nation's top civilian air performers.

The two-day event will also depict the history of American aviation and salute the recent accomplishments of America's military in operations around the globe through numerous additional military and civilian ground displays. Approximately 100 aircraft covering everything from the earliest days of aviation to some of the nation's newest military aircraft are scheduled to be on display.
